Should I be concerned with this situation???

philg Dec 13, 2003 01:46 PM

I received a female from a freind, and have had her in quarantine for about 2 months now. She is pooping fine (no watery stools etc...) and eats like a pig, and has had a consistent weight (shes pretty fat). I want to put her in with my other females, but as I was holding her today, I noticed I could see a dark patch on her underbelly. I know it could just be her organs and what not, but I don't want to take any chances...I remember seeing this as being a sign of parasites. Should I be concerned??

What "morph" is it? I've seen some leopard geckos that are Blizzards and some of the Albinos that have that, and that, I suppose, is just from being such a light color.

Also, I've even seen some bearded dragons that their whole underbelly is dark, as if the skin is almost translucent.

I'd say it's normal, but don't take my word, wait for a few more responses.

Shes a super hypo tangerine. She seems 100% healthy otherwise, and theres been no cause for concern other than her underbelly...

Not sure on what it could be. Probably nothing, but if you have a reptile vet or know one I'd phone and ask. The vet I know lets you ask questions over the phone maybe one in your area will do the same. Chances are if its some kind of symtom a reptile vet would know.
I wouldnt worry though, if you've had her for 2 months and everything seems fine, then it probably is. I'd think if she had something she'd be showing signs by now other than a dark spot. I think the recomended quarintine period is actually 3 months, so maybe you should consider just keeping an eye on it for another month. Thats my opinion. Good luck with her, Later
