GREAT pics! you got anymore???

Where do you live and what are the temps day and night outside now?

I'm in NC and we've had a long spell of unseasonably warm
weather until just recently. Right now it's 40's and raining,
his enclosure is locked down and he cannot get outside of the
cottage. Yesterday when I tood the pics. it was sunny and
dry. Then he can go outside if he chooses, as long as it's
nearing 45-50 degrees. His indoor air temp behind his towels
is 100 degrees F. and his direct basking temp under his lamps
at shell height is 120 degrees F. Other parts of the cottage
are air temp 80. His lights are on a timer. At night he
has a ceramic heater on a thermostat (set at 74) and a portable
air heater attatched to the wall to keep the temp around 70-75.

When he was a hatchling I didn't take him out unless it was 70 F
outside, 65 maybe if it was completely sunny and then only for
a 10 minute session a few times a day to graze. He always had
his warm basking areas available after those outings. I really
babied him when he was small.

Once they reach 10 pounds they are a bit more hardy. I've got
controversial pictures of mine outside in the snow (I'm not the
only one.) but this isn't something I would recommend and it
was just for a 10 minute outing - after exploring for a minute
he charged into the snow to come towards me, it's not like I
was keeping him in the snow as his habitat.

sunny and cold is OK for me to let him out - I come home
at lunch daily (between 11-2) and let him out by removing his
melamine block on his window and opening his window in the
winter now. In the morning it's just too cold and the ground
is covered in frost. He doesn't need to be out there then.
But between 11 and 4 he's fine going in and out as he chooses.
About 5:30 his lights go off and I close his window for the night.
