Can a hatchling beardie and a hatchling sulcata stay in the same cage together just during the day?
You should never mix species due to bacterial and parasitic transfers. What one can tolerate naturally may kill the other.
Taken from Melissa Kaplan's site:
Sulcatas like to move around and are very strong -- they must have a large area in which to freely and widely roam. Sulcatas also need to burrow away from the heat and do so by retreating to their pallets or into muddy wallows where they will stay for hours, flipping cool mud up onto their backs. When temperatures exceed 104 F (40 C), they will begin to salivate heavily, smearing the saliva on their forearms to help cool themselves down.rom Melissa Kaplan's site:

You should never mix ANY reptiles together. Even same species. I had to learn the hard way. I've always heard that, yet never thought it to have much merit other than precaution. I was horribly wrong. Two of my [bleep]ds, so far have ALL the symptoms of IBD. I took my Royal Python to my vet that knows a herp scientist colleage of her's that can peform a test for IBD without the need for an autopsy. I get the results back in 10 days. It's pretty clear the diagnosis. But I am hoping for the best. This might not have much effect on your decision wheither to house them together or not. I know it didn't stop me. But on the strength of what i'm going through at this present moment, I now know better. I hope you give the question a second thought, it might deem worthy.
What's this test for IBD? Maybe my vet can get it too. This is the first I've heard about it.
