Missing Mali Uromastyx

eubanksae Dec 13, 2003 04:49 PM

I need some advice...

My Mali opened the edge of his aquarium, and got out, where I had a lamp clipped on. He was there this morning, and when I got home at 3:00, he wasn't there. Does anybody have any suggestions about the best places to look, and how they behave once they are loose in the house.

I know that he usually doesn't get up in the morning until I turn on his light, so I am afraid, that wherever he is hiding, he is gonna stay there because there is no great heat source to draw him out.

Please Help!

Thanks,
Andy E.

Really sorry to hear this happened. You are on the right track...most likely they are going to find a crevice to go into and then just fall asleep and not wake up. This makes finding them a bit difficult but stick with it, they usually do not go far. Look under everything, even things that seem like they would be too small to fit under, they can really cram themselves into tight spots. Keep us updated.

Only think I can say is KEEP LOOKING, and look EVERYWHERE. Hes bound to be where you least expect it.
I have lost the tiniest of leopard geckos, and have found each and every one of them. So that just goes to show what persistance can do. Check EVERYWHERE..not just where you THINK he could be...but where you think he COULDNT be.
Dont give up!

Good luck to you, and keep us posted!

Thank you, everyone, for the advice.
The good news is that today, I was standing in my kitchen, and my Mali came walking down the hallway, heading towards the bathroom. I don't know where he had been hiding, but he seems ok, just a tad bit lighter, and dusty. His aquarium is more secure now.

Thanks again,
Andy E.
