CROC SKINKS!!!

sallie_keeper Dec 13, 2003 09:50 PM

I am in love with this lizard.. and I want to know more about them... I have found LOTS of caresheets on net, AND I have read every post I can find on these guys...

But I would love to hear from someone who actually keeps them, nothing beats first hand knowledge.. Does anyone out there breed them?? I do not buy wild caught animals, especially ones that have to be imported.. only the lucky ones make it here ALIVE... What does a captive bred baby sell for?? And what is best season to look for one??

Thanks in advance,

Harpy

I keep Tribilinotus gracilis. They are very easy to keep and breed if given the right conditions. I have 1 baby now that hatched out about 2 months ago. We hatch out 3 or 4 babies a year. The singly laid egg takes about 90 days to hatch out. When it does the female lays another egg that day. The male and female take turns guarding the nest. Our single pair of adults has consistently produced this way for about 10 years now. Sorry, but our babies are not for sale. I rarely see them available in the classifieds or at herp shows.

I do occationally sell captive born tribs. I had an egg laid on 11-17-03 so it should be ready in about 60 day so if you like email me if you happen to be interested and we can discuss the details. most people find it hard to part with there babies.
thanks

Thanks, but I think I need to learn more about this animal, before I jump into it. I would hate to screw it up.

Just for asking, what does a captive born croc sell for? I have seen wild caught ones recently priced from $49.99-$159.00.

thanks again,
Harpy

I've seen CB ones $100 and up, they're really hard to come by.
I found a healthy WC (LTC?) pair at a show and jumped on it. They're doing suprisingly well and I've heard they're very hardy.
(I usually figure that if I can't find CB specimens of an animal I like it's up to me to try and breed some)

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
