Is the perlite in potting soil bad for corn snakes, I know that they like to burrow and I am considering putting plants in the cages. Is potting soil an ok substrate???

My thoughts are....don't feed the snake on that substrate....nothing in it is gonna be good to eat. Two, has the soil mix got added fertilizers that may or may not do a snake any good. Three, I think the corn will dismantle the set up on a regular basis knocking plants or squishing them and create a messy frustration for you. Four, when they deficate the liquid is gonna soak into the soil and grow smell and disease. You are gonna wind up scooping a lot often and or not knowing what the consistency of stools are since it will soak in.

perlite is rough edged....it will scratc maybe.....probably not

no is the answer..it won't hurt anything......

perlite and vermiculite are rocks that have been cooked till they popped...........

(do not try perlite with milk and sugar for breakfast....it doesn't taste like popped rice or corn)
