Poll on feeding for adults

lbonachea Dec 13, 2003 10:24 PM

I've seen a few posts talking about how much people feed their adults and it looked like too little food. It occurs to me that I might have been overfeeding for years.

I feed my breeders about 15 giant mealworms or large crickets each a week and a small pinkie once a month (no other food is given during that week). I have noticed some little fat pouches under my female's forearms during the fall months, but that definitely goes away come breeding. Thoughts?

I dont think it really matters. For my adults I feed them any where between 15-20 mealworms whether they eat them or not. I am trying to get them all off crickets, but if I do feed them crix I usually just toss in a handful.

Your leo will stop eating when its not hungry anymore.

All of my geckos are very healthy and they all weigh in the 50-95 gram range.

Speaking of weight, I have an adult that seems to flucutate in weight, she was sick the first 2 months I had her, but now she's healthy. She was 45 grams 12 days ago & is 40 grams today. She's active & appears to be eating normally. Her feces are normal & she doesn't appear ill. Are some fluctuations in weight normal?
