Among other things you have an awesome obsoleta collection. Between looking at all the nice pics on the net today and hearing that they dug that rat out of his hole yesterday is making it look like a very nice Christmas indeed.

Now if only someone could get me an adult female mandarin that looked like this male and I'd have a Happy New Year

Lots of yellow on that one. One of my males looks similar but both my females have red tones over the grey. Hope you find a mate for that one too.

I've got no proof and the few people I've asked haven't noticed it, but I'm starting to believe that the males average lighter than the females. But I search on for the lightest female I can find.

Happy Holidays

He looks like he's got good weight for a wild caught Mandarin. How long have you had him? My WC pair (not from Steve) were skinny when they came in. The female never fed (and of course she was the prettier one) but the male is hanging in there at over a year now. Still a timid feeder but at least he's eating regularly. I've had good luck with a CB pair I got from Robert Seib, so you might want to check him out also. Crappy pic from April but it gives you an idea of coloration.
Good luck on the search for a pale female!
Lora
