Dragon has become extremely active...

djfuente Dec 14, 2003 12:29 PM

Giblet my 15" roughly 6-7month old female beardie has become very "hyperactive" as of late. She runs around the cage trying to climb the glass and digs constantly. She still eats well, but her last poop was two tiny turds with a lot of clear fluid with it, maybe over half a teaspoon. Her colors are good and I know her temps are fine. I was worried that she might be gravid with infertile eggs since she's never been with a male, but i cannot feel any eggs. She is in a 30gal aquarium which I am upgrading to a 65gal after xmas, so could it be she feels cramped? I do take her out often so that she can run and explore. I'm just worried because there has been a clear change in her behavior in the past couple days. Any suggestions?

unless there is too much heat or lack of a good hide ....

it's just "Growing Up" from the sound of it....

Dex gets the same way after he "wakes up" he wants out so he can run and check out the place and after a while he finds a hide like behind a bookcase, under the bed or behind a door.

where he parks it untill he wakes up or I wake him up.

also, now she has begun to act as if she is really scared. When I go to hold her, she puffs up and tries to run from me, she also puffs her beard out slightly. I think now I'm really starting to get worried.

how often are you handling?

anything ahppen recently to scare your BD?

unless something has happened just take it slow and don't freak.

just like children, dogs, brids etc.... a dragon will go thru phases as it matures and works out the "Pecking order"

as long as you stay calm, don't mis-handle / hurt the kid he will normaly sort it out....

and some times a BD comes along with "attitude" and you just have to be understanding....

how much beard action?
how dark does it turn?

try to sit still with the dragon and hold him with good support.
be sure that the feet, tail, belly all need support.
try and have a quiet room to do this, no fans or other moving objects.... some times other things or fans moving or making sounds keeps the dragon looking for cover.

give it time, keep trying, not all at once....
