Both can be excellent captives.

I like that carpets will hang out on branches in a tall cage. Rainbow boas are ground dwellers and would rather hide all the time. Also, where I live, keeping humidity up is quite a challenge during certain times of the year, and a rainbow boa needs alot of humidity.

My carpets eat like Cal kings and are as calm as cornsnakes. I just like them alot!

I have both and I think my Irian Jayas are easier to keep than my Brazilian Rainbow Boa becuase they require less humidity and are more forgiving to temp fluctations and handling. My carpets are also more curious than my BRB that hide all the time.
