ill be getting a everglades rat snake soon of my mate he has just a normal 50 watt light is this ok or do u need a red 1 or something

Without knowing more about the whole enclosure I couldn't really answer that question. You need to buy a temperature gauge for the cage and base the decision on temperature. I keep the warm end of Glades' cage around 82 and the cool end is around 73. To do that, in my cage, I just put a 75 watt bulb at the warm end. My cage, however, my be much larger than yours. You can buy a stick-on temp tape for about $3 and that'll help you make the decision.
