Cannibalism

redhed Dec 14, 2003 04:21 PM

I'm, wondering, has anyone ever been unfortunate enough to experience this with their females???

This female had just mated with this unfortunate male. A very rare occurance, especially since females rarely eat after mating at all. She was disturbed just by our presence, and here is actually regurgitating the male, much to our surprise. I have a feeling it'll never happen in captivity, since the females are so well fed, but I suppose you never know.

Watch out, guys, it can be costly!

I have never witness cannibalism. But I've seen anacondas sniffin others after they have just got done eating. could that be the cause of cannabalism the snake that got ate smelled like somethin she wanted to eat?so ive learned to wash them off before putting back into the cage after feeding.

I doubt that was the case here, primarily b/ the females and her males were the only wildlife in the enclosure for several days; thus there were no other remotely recent prey scents to be confused with.
