Defrosted Pinkie

Harker Dec 14, 2003 04:32 PM

Just a little thing i need to ask, erm i put the pinkie in my tank and left it checked up 5 mins later, and my snakes constricting it, so i thought its ok he's gonna eat it, so i left him. I came down the next morning and my snake was just eating it! is there gonna be a problem with the pinkie been defrosted over night? will it harm the snake? if so what should i do?

Cheers Anthony.

nah, over night should be okay. Maybe next time feed right before bed, just so it's not out quite so long. But a lot of times with ahrd to feed babies, they spend a night in a tub with a pink, so I think your's should be just fine.

Although it may not be the best scenerio it should be fine.
Next time put the snake and the pinkie in a separate container.
Something like a deli cup or gladware container.
This will make it impossible for the snake to miss the pinkie and keep the feed free from substrate.
Give it a try, I think you will see your snake eat much quicker next time.
