cage help

Sarah Miller Dec 14, 2003 08:17 PM

Hi,
I am looking for links to sites that will sell you plans to build a cage. I want to build a cage that is made of glass. All the plans I've found online have been made of wood.
Thanks,
Sarah Miller

Hi Sarah,

I just typed "aquaria do it youself" (without the quotes) into Google.com and got several hits. If you play around with those key search words and others I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

It sounds like you're building a cage rather than an aquarium, but the techniques and design features will be similar.

You won't find many links on cage building with glass since glass has some many downfalls and limitations in such an application.

Let us know how it goes.

garf.org -->click on DIY pages then tanks. All u do is enter in the dimensions, and it will tell u step by step how to do it.

http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/cages.html --> These guys have done a pretty good job illustrating how to make a few different cages.

Hope that helps ya out.

I built a 180-gallon aquarium a few years ago and it's going strong...hasn't leaked from day one.

I can't remember all the websites I found when I was doing research, but I have a lot of printouts from the pages I found so if I can find the printouts I'll be able to direct you to the sites.

If I can't find the printouts, I can offer my personal experience. What do you want to know?

I built a cage for my first bearded dragon out of glass also. It didn't need to be water tight so the constriction was simpler.

I just checked out the DIY page on the GARF site. It is very good. If you need further clarification on their instructions, let me know. I'd be happy to help.
