how long are mice good for f/t

Domingoakasunday Dec 14, 2003 08:36 PM

I bought 4 frozen mice last night and right after I got home my nieghbor came and told me she had a car accident (it was sleeting) and she needed my help stoping traffic (it was halfway up a sheet of ice steep hill) so I completly forgot about the mice until around 5 this afternoon... my question is: how long would the mice be good for? would the fact that they thawed overnight and I refroze them bother them. would they "go bad" and hurt my snakes? If I have to throw them out it wouldnt be that bad I dont think my snakes are going to eat this week because they are sick...but never hurts to try...

Never re-freeze mice. Why take the chance. You don't re-freeze meat after it thaws then cook it later. I have bought frozen mice from several places. I have gotten mice that smell bad while they were frozen and mice that their bellys were fat and squishy from being killed by drowning and then frozen. If there is anything wrong with the mouse throw it out. This includes re-freezing. Take care. Bill
