i was just wondering if i could catch a parasite from my bearded dragon. He had pinworms and i was wondering if i could catch them the vet said he had bearded dragon pinworms and that they couldn't cross over to humans, is that right? is there such a thing as bearded dragon pinworms? I'm just making sure cause i don't want pinworms.. thanks for any advice

some parasites are host specific. others are not. i do not know about pinworms. even if they do cross comtaminate don't sweat it. wash your hands after handling your dragon as you shoul and you will be fine. to really get infected i think you would pretty much have to eat the dragons poop. same thing for salmonela. to get anything from your dragon you really have to practice poor husbandry. I hate to admit I have been pretty sloppy at times and have never been sick. So I wouldn't sweet it.

Your vet is correct. Reptile pinworms cannot complete their life cycle in humans. Humans are host to just a single species of pinworm , E. vermicularis, also known as "the human pinworm" which gives you an idea of the level of host specificity.
