Scale rot update.

Netti Dec 15, 2003 11:42 AM

Well I'm afraid I was right about my new boy. He did have scale rot. I thought it was a fairly bad case but he has seen the vet and been given some topical treatment. Not as bad as I thought it was. It is actually looking better now even only been treated for a few days so it's looking good. I still have a couple of problems I need some help with tho - I think he's starting to enter the rapid shed cycle I heard they enter when they have skin trauma, but obviously I can't increase his humidity very much as it will make the rot worse, and he is an absolute night mare to handle when he's blue, snaps at anything, so I'm not sure how much I'd be able to soak him. I'm picking up some moisturiser/emoillent from the vet today which should help his skin heal faster and also helps shedding but any other suggestions on how to get a good shed out of him very much appreciated.

Also, he can't have internal anti-biotics or be wormed until he has fed, as they may cause stomach problems because he's gone so long without feed but even assist feeding him, he just opens his mouth wider and refuses to close it. Any help in this recpect is also appreciated. Seems everything has been tried with him and I am stumped.

Thnaks in advance for any help.

Can you remind us how big/old he is and how long since he ate and what his weight is? Just wondering.
