Feeding while breeding ???

peterUK Dec 15, 2003 06:23 PM

I have a pair of Hog Island Boas (Female 6ft 10in 4 yrs and male 4ft 7in and 3yrs ) that have been mating almost 24/7 for the last 6 weeks although I cant say for definate if she has ovulated. I havent fed them during this time prefering to leave them to their "fun"
The female hasnt been fed for 9 weeks, which is not a problem as she is probaly slightly overweight anyway but the male has not fed since August 8th. He has got a good body tone and is not lost any weight that I can see.
What do I do ? Do I wait until she ovulates them seperate them a week or two after ? Or take him out for a week or two and feed him then put him back ?

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

opportunity presents itself like a shed cycle. I've had male breed females for 5 months straight. If the male or female begins to go into a shed, that usually reduces breeding activity. When I get an opporunity like this I'll sometimes separate the two for a few days and feed the male a small to meduim meal to keep him going. Otherwise if their constantly courtingbreeding, I would leave them alone.

How long do I leave him in there with her ?
Is there a set time/season for breeding Boa's ?
I gotta admit its a lot easier breeding Corns, Kings and Milks :-0
