Weird behavior....

Breathingbywires Dec 15, 2003 08:18 PM

So today, now that my Gecko is full grown I opted to put some desert sand in the bottom of her tank. I don't know if her weird behavior is because of this or not. Simply because she kind of acted this way the other day as well when I simply re-put paper towel in the bottom (which has been her main substrait for awhile)

A little while ago she started this thing with pulling up the paper towel in her mouth, kind of like she was mad at it.. and sometimes she would try to hide under it. When I put her in her tank she would run around looking all over acting all weird, licking the sides of the tank.. kind of like she didn't know where she was, but I haven't once set up her tank any different.. always the same.

Today when I put in the sand, she started her running around thing all over, digging in the sand, and now she just is sitting up on top of her house. I don't know if I should be worried, or if it's because she isn't used to the sand or what. She seems to be eating fine.. she ate 6 wax worms tonight, and always has some crickets running around when she is hungry, but her active behavior isn't something I'm used to.. she's just looking all around and stuff.

Like I said, I may be over reacting cause she is my baby and it could be because I put sand in there, but she was also doing this the other day when I set up her house the same way as normal. Any ideas for the weird behavior?

Yeah, My albino is doing that right now... Mine seem to do that after cage cleaning ect.. I guess its all the new smells ect... Plus the sand is way diff feeling than the towels... And he/she has never been on sand before, It is probly a weird feeling... Feet sink in, gets on thier bodies, and moves when they walk/// I think its just a normal reaction... -Jon

Probably just not use to the sand. My albino first ran around evrywhere then she took some licks of the sand then was fine. And don't feed 6 wax worms! your only suppose to feed 2 or 3 a month at the most. Just to let you know
