Quesiton on prices

poisonfrog420 Dec 15, 2003 10:42 PM

I have 1.3 bearded dragons rangeing in age from 2-4. Some have nipped tails. I am looking at selling them and wanted to know what every one thought would be a fair price. Also, if I pay for the kingsnake classifides for one month how does that work? If I were to to it today, would it end at the end of december or would it end on january 16th? Do you guys think it is worth it? Thanks, Jake.

questions about the classified accounts can be emailed to the appropriate pet hobbyist section (see link below, select classified help from the drop down list).

as for a fair price, to many factors will affect it. The colouration of the dragons, it's age, sex, nipped toes/tails (though personally these are just cosmetic and don't have any effect on the breedability of the dragon or how good it is as a pet), size and temperment all effect the cost. Also, if they are being sold with their enclosures makes a difference. Adult dragons run anywhere between $100 to $700 US (the higher end going for brightly coloured dragons who are proven breeders and still young (under 4 years old)). Another factor in what price to put them is how fast you want to sell them. A better question is what price are you willing to sell them? If you won't sell them for less than say, $300 then advertise them at that price and see if they sell. If you don't care what price you get, then give a price and add OBO (or best offer) on your ad.

It all really grounds down to is what is the minimum price you are willing to sell for. If it's a realistic price, then it probably would sell. If not, nobody will buy it and you will quickly figure out your asking price is too high. Course, if you ask too low a price and get a huge volumn of emails to buy it then you will know. I could scan web sites and the classifieds for dragons that are similar to yours (ie colour, nipped tails, age etc) and see what they are asking for them. Add up all the prices, divide the total with the number of prices you acquired, and use that average to tag on your dragons.
