Hey, I have a homemade 40 gallon acrylic. I use a 25 watt under water heater set on 83 degrees. With the lights on, the air hits about 76 degrees during the day, and down to about 71 at night. I did build a rim around the top of my tank out of shelving board -- 1" X 1 1/2" to keep the walls from bowing out. So far so good....no warping other than the walls bowing out, and the rim fixes that.
Hope this helps,

thanks-my tank has no supports though. I will have to ask the manufacturer what is best. Thanks! Maggie
