skits Dec 16, 2003 01:06 AM

How tall is everyone's enclosures? I have an enclosure thats 18 - 19 inches tall... i was thinkn of cutting it in half to make a multi level enclosure that would cut it to 9 inches a piece and atleast 30 or so inches of running room followed by 16 inches wide. Just an idea, wanted to get some feedback. Thanks

I would not make your cage any smaller. Your cage is already about the minimum size to be used for a single collared (in my opinion less than minimum).

38 inches long, by 16 inches wide, and 18 inches tall is the minimum? I thought more along the lines of 24 long, 12 wide and 12 tall is the min. Thanks for the info though, i'll leave it the same, maybe get my girl a mate.

if you are going to be leaving the tank the same dimensions and want to get a mate then i would consider another option,i have a 48x24x24 for 3 collareds and i have a shelf that runs all the way around 3 sides at a varying depth of 2-8 inches.this shelf serves as another level and it is well used, infact the whole viv is used and i can guarantee that there is not a piece of the viv that they dont touch at 1 point during the day.Watch your collared for a while and see how quick he gets around the viv then ends up headbutting the glass to get to the "farlands"IE your roomI personally think you would benefit a bigger tank aswell as these guys have talent for jumping and climbing, nothing much comes close to a collared jumping 2 feet in the air to catch a passing locust, its a rare sight but i have seen it

Thats a good idea, i was thinkn of making a shelf and a background of synthetic rock for plenty of hiding spots as well as basking and climbing. Thanks
