Misting System Recommendations?

Dartz Dec 16, 2003 09:47 AM

I am looking for misting system recommendations from folks who have actually used them. I am looking for a very fine, very low GPH mist to 25-30 tanks. I need an automated timer with minimum mist cycles of 1 minute.

I would welcome your observations of what you like and don't like about the performance and features of your misting system, including fineness of the mist, ease of installation, succeptability of the nozzles to clogging, timer control etc. Also looking for sources for angled nozzles (the kind the European tanks use).

I will also be installing an automated ventilation system with 1.5" computer fans on each tank (I'm cutting the panels now). I'm interested in your experiences in balancing ventilation cycles with misting.

Thanks!
Dartz

Pro products is my recommendation for sure. PM-60 for single tank and PM-70 for multiple tanks. I have been using the PM-60 for 2 years with absolutely no problems. They also sell digital timers for what you are looking for. Call him up there. They are on vacation right now but i believe they are back this week. He is also at all the Eastern shows and knows his herp stuff, many years in the business. There are a lot of systems out there not including all the possibilities of a home built system. But if for nothing else he will definitely direct you in the right direction for your application.

I have seen the Pro Products demo at rep shows and thought the mist (in the demo chamber) was about as fine as it gets. The price doesn't seem bad for a system that can expand to that capacity. I do need to contact them and determine if the pump is a 'run dry' type or not.

Thanks for your recommendation.

it will run dry. I have run mine dry for a few days at one point. That would be about 8-10 1 minute intervals or so. but you can ask them exactly what the run dry max time is. good luck with the search.
