Corn Keeper getting some geckos

kevmimcc Dec 16, 2003 11:11 AM

I am fairly experienced in keeping corns and king snakes and I breed my own mice, but I've never kept a leopard gecko. I would really appreciate some advice or hints and tips to keeping and feeding them. I will be keeping a pair in a 31qt rubbermaid box in a rack with heat in the back. If possible I would like to avoid using crickets for food, but if its necessary I can. I have plenty of pinkies at my disposal, but how often should they eat pinkies? How about the calcium thing. What do you suggest for the humid spot? Are paper towels ok? Do they need to brumate before they breed? Sorry for the many questions but I figured it would be best to ask all at once. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will enjoy working with leos. Your 31 is just fine. Go ahead and feed them mealworms - just shake and bake'em with mineral i every time and you will be fine.

There is a really nice care sheet on this forum - right above where the posts start. That's a very good starting point.

Email me if you have any more questions.

Good luck
