I recently got my hands on some 1995/1996 Reptiles Magagazines and there was an article and a pic of a leopard gecko AFT cross. Kinda ugly if you ask me. Keep the two species separate we dont need mix breeding

StarGecko Dec 16, 2003 03:26 PM

I'd always heard they could not be crossed. My apologies. However I do think they should not be crossed somehow, it seems unnatural. I'll stick to what I said about the sheep though.

My impression would be that even if the leo and AFT did produce a viable baby, that the offspring would not itself be able to reproduce....Natures way of preventing cross-breeding perhaps?
In any case i don't think it should be done...
Just my humble opinion

Hey do you know anywhere I could see that picture on the net? I'm curious too see what it would look like if in fact its real.
I agree with red though, even if by chance you did produce one (which is highly unlikely) I bet it wouldnt be able to reproduce itself.
Interesting topic though. later

I've got issues back to 97, but have never even heard of this picture. Please let us know which issue it is, and post a copy of it if you can.

Thanks

They are seperate species and not genetically compatible- e.g. you can mate them , but no baby lizards
