Yes it is genetic but not simple recessive like amelanism for example. Kind of like striping in Cal kings. You can breed a striped Cal king with a banded Cal king and get stripes, bands, or anything inbetween. If you want to produce deep orange Pueblans, it is best to start with deep orange breeders. An orange Pueblan bred with a white Pueblan can yield orange, white or a real faded orange almost creme color, or anything inbetween. Selective breeding produced the real orange Pueblans you see out there, just the same as selective breeding produced the really high white Cal kings out there.

If you bred an apricot to a normal, chances are you'd get a few of each and some in between apricot and yellow. Even if you breed two apricots togather, you can still sometimes get one or two yellow banded babies.
