Whats a good time for me and my Salvator...

anniecham Dec 16, 2003 05:04 PM

Hey all. I used to frequent this forum years ago (that long, seems like just yeserday). I started lurking a while back but decided to start posting again. I have two Salvators. One is stunted adult, around 4 Y.O. she no longer resideds at my place but in good hands with a friend. My other is a newly aquired little guy. i got him from PE at the end of Oct. doing great. A good eater, growing but skitish.
well with all that out of the way I do have a question. I just got a good eclosure (picking it up tonight) and was wonder who has thoughts on if it is too soon to put my little 17" guy into a big 6' eclosure. I wasn't going to but then saw a pick one of you guys posted, I think BillyBoy, and started to think about it. If I funished it right I think it may be ok.
any thoughts?...

anyway, its nice to be back on board
Billy

My two little ones (15 and 20 inches) both reside in the same 7.5 foot long cage together. They are both doing great and utilize every square inch of the enclosure. My experience has been that in general, they seem much more confident in a bigger enclosure. Since you've got the cage, why not put the little one in it and see how it does? I would offer plenty of hides, dirt to burrow in, and of course, the proper temp gradient. Below is a pic of my littlest one on the basking shelf. You have to look really hard, but he's just to the left of the tiles in front of the branches. He may look totally lost in there, but he really enjoys all the room, as does his bigger cagemate (who spent her first two months in a 20 gal. long aquarium). Good luck with your new baby and post some pics!
