is it safe . . .

To put my new 20 gallon long on my dresser? I'm planning on using an UTH and a daytime incandescent light. I don't want to run the risk of fires but I didnt know if would be a problem. If its not safe, would it be ok to just use a daytime light with no UTH, or should I get a ceramic heating element with no light and just leave it on all the time?

As long as you use the spacers that come with the UTH, you will be fine.

It's perfectly fine to keep your tank on a dresser, but for a 20 gallon tank, you definitely will need a rheostat or thermostat to keep the temperature down. (Plus the little nubs that come with the UTH for raising your tank.)

Hi

Your first idea of heating and lighting is fine, but right on the UTH box that it comes in, it says to prop up the ends of the tank a little to allow air underneith so it won't get to hot if the tank were flat on your dresser.

Take Care, TLB

OK good then I will use the UTH with a clamp lamp for daytime heat. Just wanted to make sure Thanks for all your comments.
