Hi

L. Geckos aren't really vocal unless something is stressing them out or bothering them.

Well, the first thing that came to mind regarding the white sugary stuff was cricket eggs.....don't ask me why, i've never seen them LOL, but thats what first struck my mind.

As for vocalizations.....only one of mine wails like i'm trying to kill her......She screams at me almost everytime i go into her tank. The only other noise i hear from my other geckos are them moving stuff around in their tanks.

The white stuff is possibly powder that's been rubbed off from dusted crickets/mealworms that got under the paper towels. Or! If it could be a piece of urate that somehow got crushed under there. (Ew.)

My geckos are vocal. I've heard all but one of them make some kind of vocalization, whether it's been a scream or hiss, a squeak, gurgle, yelp, battle cry, or whatever. I have a male that even barks at his food. When the cricket or mealworm stops moving right under his nose, he makes a "puh!" sound to startle it into moving again, and then he strikes. He's also the same one who likes to stand on the tallest hide and make a coughing sound. Judging by how tall and proud he is when he does it, it must be some kind of territorial cry.

The funniest is in the mornings, since I keep three adults in my room. I don't know who does it, but early in the morning when we're all sleeping, sometimes I'll hear these soft yelps that almost sound like puppy noises. They must do it in their sleep, because when I look over, none of them have moved or touched each other.

OMG thats soooooooooooooooooo cool, i'm not going nuts LOL. See i'd hear what sounded like my dog yelp every now and then but he was no where around. I always heard it at the one end of my gecko unit so i didn't know who was doing it and everyone would be sleeping when i checked so i thought i was going crazy. Just recently i moved Dot and Abby to their own 10 gal tanks and i moved Abby to the other end of the unit. Now i'm hearing that yelp at that end so i believe it to be Abby....but again she's sleeping everytime i hear it. WEIRD!

Both of my adult geckos will make little sort of croaking noises when you first pick them up... its an odd sound... and my one juvie will scream whenever he's sprayed with a bit of water... No matter how many times he's experienced it.. no matter what.. he screams. My adults barely react anymore to it.. Caine just licks the water droplets off.. he prefers that to his water bowl or humid hide.. I never see him drink unless I spray him.

I wish my leos did that, that is so funny, lol. That "PUH!", lol. My new blizz screams for her life when I touch her, but that's typical of babies. And.. Raine grunts if I pick him up, lol. Take care.

Hi

Could the white substance under the papertowel be some calcium that may have gotten underneith?, another thought is that some white from your geckos poo got under their, dried and got cruched into a powderie substance.
