Hey everyone. Just getting the word out that Eugene Bessette from Ophiological Services will be here in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, January 10th, 2004. He will be giving a talk at the KC Herp Sociey meeting, which is held at 1:00 pm at William Chrisman Highschool (24 Hiway & Noland Rd., Independence, Missouri).

There is no admission fee. There will be a raffle, a nice selection of herp related books for sale, and possibly even some animals, should anyone choose to bring some to sell. By the way, the Kansas City Herp Society is a non-profit organization, so all proceeds will go towards herp conservation.

The talk will encompass herpetoculture as a whole, where herpetoculture came from and where it's headed, the money side of it, and the people that make it happen. And of course, we'll talk about pythons. In addition to Eugene's talk, we'll have a raffle, and there will be books and even a few reptiles for sale.

As you all know, Eugene has been breeding Chondros since the mid 1970's. He worked right along side Trooper to help develop the "formula" for artificially incubating Chondro eggs, and he's been doing it ever since. Now Ophiological Services also works with all kinds of other stuff, from Ball Morphs to Blood Pythons and of course, their famous Chondros.

I apologize if this seems like a shameless plug, but I know there are some people fairly new to herpetoculture who don't know who he is, and I'm trying not to alienate anyone. In fact, we encourage newcomers to make the meeting.

We'll also be having a late lunch/early dinner with Eugene after the meeting, so don't think that you'll only be able to listen to him. He'll be there to answer anything you want to ask.

Below is a link to the new KCHS website, which was designed by yours truly. We haven't gotten the domain switched over just yet, so it's hosted on my site.

Thanks!
