My "borneo" is developing small red streaks on her head. Is she really a red blood?

cutlass1972 Jun 03, 2003 11:45 AM

I bought her as a "blood python" and after a bit of research I determined that she is a Borneo. Also I belive that someone at NERD confirmed that she is a borneo. Does anyones Borneo have any red on them?

Where did you get her? If you got the snake from NERD they are probably right. Some people like to play jokes and interbreed the species and say they are one or the other. Though I have only heard of that happening once or twice. Believe it or not I know a guy who bought a "blood" and brought the snake home it was a mix of a ball and a blood! he guy is kind of a moron to begin with... but that still doesn't make it right to lie to someone when you sell them an animal.

Pet store. I have a bud that works there so I know their animals are well taken care of. WOW, if he got a Blood X Ball for what a blood costs I'd say he did OK. If he wants to sell it I might be interested.

Most borneos, as they grow, will attain a nice red/pink colouration around there head and a 1/4 of the way down thre body.
Some can even attain a bright red head, although ive only seen one, and maybe that person who owns it might be so nice as to post it because it is one awesome snake!!
In the mean time, heres a couple crappy pics of my borneo showing its colours...

In this second one, you can see the pinkish outlining of its black scales. A very underated species if you ask me.
