Nice redtail photo

RioBravoReptiles Dec 17, 2003 07:30 AM

This is one of the boas (WC or farmed) that was brough in from Ecuador early this year. They are nice boas and with the help of a friend who knew about the shipment, who had them and all that jazz I did get a group of them.

It seems that some of these have ended up in the market as Peru redtails, apparently people are unfamiliar with boas from Ecuador and with the Peru redtail craze now ongoing these sell better and at a higher price as Peruvian BCC.. They do have a lot of the Peru boa look... The price difference between what they were sold for as Ecuador redtails and now that they are 'Peru' boas is very substantial. Personally, I was overjoyed to have the Ecuador boas, at any price!

I really wish I knew what the truth really is. I've heard from several people that they are just wc Peruvians but they are just being called Equadorians for import purposes. I've also heard that they definitely are Equadorians and people just don't know what they are talking about but they made that up because the Peruvians are more desirable. I've never been to South America so I don't really know how it works I just wish I knew the truth. Nonetheless they are great looking BCC.

Did you come across any Ecuadorian BCI?

RioBravoReptiles Dec 17, 2003 01:00 PM

I had a buddy in the 70's who was working in the oil biz, he brought boas from all over down there, including Ecuador, once, he brought me a suitcase full of boas from Paraguay.

He did bring Ecuador boas that looked like BCI, I will try to find those old pics and scan them up..

a couple of pictures of some a while back and if I remember right, they looked a lot like Argentine Boas. I think they were a little lighter in color... more white and gray. If you find your pics, please post them. I would love to see what yours looked like.
Take care,
Eric

By the way, I believe that the photos I saw were credited to Richard Bartlett, but I'm not positive.

INTERESTING ANALOGY ON THEIR ORIGIN. I COULD CARE LESS WHERE THEY CAME FROM. I KNOW A SCREAMER WHEN I SEE ONE!
