Ring necked Fl.

buddygrout Dec 17, 2003 09:47 AM

I have a ring necked here in central Fl he eats small anoles and will take them from my hand. He is only about 8-9 inches long. I see pictures of much bigger ones out west. They are great I would like to get a pair.

Yeah the ones out west get big. Especially the Regal Ringneck, it gets to be around 30 inches long. Southerns get to be around 13 inches long. Another one should be easy to find, I know they are really common down there. I had a Northern one in June that was about 24 inches long and ate little skinks and Brown Snakes.
They are fairly easy to breed in captivity and require no special treatments. Good luck with it.

P.S.- It's called a "Ringneck Snake"not a Ring Necked Snake

Thank you for your response. I should know the spelling was in a hurry earlier. For those who are wondering I have had hatchlings eat ant eggs, larvae also anole tails.

That's Eggs. Typo.

Are you refering to your Ringneck as a baby, or are you just stating what baby ones eat? I've never had a snake eat an anole's tail but I've had them eat ants and ant eggs. Hey Frank(Rearfang)show one of your Regal Ringneck pics to this forum. I would do it but I never get it right.

unfortunatly, I am no good at posting photos on this forum either. Anyone who wants to see the Regal Photos may contact me and I can then send the photos to their address.
