POS vs Norm Shed?

srsnakes Dec 17, 2003 10:34 AM

Soooooo first time breeding my boas and i think i have everything going right. My large female has been with the albino male since November and 9 days ago she went into shed, this morning i found shed in her tank, but i was under the impression that this POS shed would last 15-20 days.. Am i wrong in assuming that she might be gravid, she is sitting in the famous heat coil position directly under the light which i have never witnessed before except in pictures and her colors were very dark before the shed and know she has lighten up alittle. The male is completely unintrested with her. Her normal shed cycle is between 4-5 days sooo this one was longer but is that enough time for her... any opinions are welcome as well as breeding advice. My father always told me that the only way to learn is to ask people who know better and i figure just about anyone in here will know better than me... any ideas on this POS vs Norm shed???

Sincerely,

PS she did have two good sized mid body swellings also.. the last one was about a week prior to us noticing that she was in shed. Hope that will help

In my opinion I would say you are probably good to go. However unless your male has some other urgent engagement I would leave him in there with her and see if he shows anymore interest in her. I have seen males stop for a day or two after the female sheds then go like mad after a couple days, I do not know why, but I have seen it. If it was pos he will probably ignore her for good. Good luck. Craig Kade

Ahhhhh now thats good news, the male does have another engagement, but its not as if i will run out of time for his this season, seems as its nice and early but i just wanted to check and makesure the shed length wasnt to short or anything like that, the male is showing no intrest in her but i will leave him there for a bit longer and see how it goes... thank you for your information
