HOW TO SET UP A 30 GAL HIGH FOR A CRESTED GECKO!!!

Tumtum03 Dec 17, 2003 12:00 PM

I have had these guys for awhile now, and I have a bunch of different set ups for these guys depending oh their age and size! But I have a 30 gal high that I just recently started using for a tri of mine. I just don't like the way it looks, like I have a lot of empty space in it that I would like to fill up.I have a plant in it that goes about more then half the height of the cage, fake ivy, nesting box on the bottom and big fake tree roots that reach the top of tank. I was wanting to put cork on the back of the enclosure just so it doesn't look so plan and I would also be able to add things to it to make it look more natural. I use that fake lizard carpet, cause its a little more appealing then just newspaper, and I don't like using the bed a beast stuff or coconut bark, cause my little guys get to much stuff in their mouth when they go into hunt mode...they get a little exicted when they see someting move esp. if its a cricket!! Does anyone have any suggestiong on how I could decorate my cage, or any good pics that could show me maybe how some other people have done it. Also what kinda cork can I use that is safe for them? Like where can I buy it from store wise? Any ideas is appreciated, if you guys could let me know!!! Thanks!!!

i like the natural look
for mine ,although only a small cage right now, i have a bed a beast bottem...you can use 75- 100% of the brick as substrate.
then i have a few branches that are entangled in ..i think phothos(sp check) but im not sure..i had some left from the chameleons and figured they would like it and they are always on the leaves plus if you spray down the plant the geckos will learn to drink from it and you dont have water spots on the glass.
what look are you going for i have set ups in various types and i can probly help out a little bit

I have a 30 gallon set up for my frogs and am doing the same type of setup for my new Gargoyle. This picture is a little small, if you want to see a close up of it larger, just e-mail me and I will send you one. I use a lot of the silk/plastic plants with the suction cups higher up in the cage, cork bark, those silk trees and live plants in small pots. Looks nice and doesn't take too long to clean.
