More breeders claiming to have Blazing Blizzards...

divinitry Jun 03, 2003 12:34 PM

I was browsing the classifieds today and I notice the following blurb in an ad posted by VMS Herpetoculture:

"We produced our own double heterozygous for Blazing Blizzard Leopards last year, using a male Blizzard and female Tremper Albino. These have now produced offspring, including Blazing Blizzard. While we are keeping all of the Blazing Blizzards, a number of the other offspring are being made available."

They have the same a similar ad about patternless albino. What bugs me is this line. "Use these to create your own Blazing Blizzards next year! All are feeding well on crickets." Misleading them into thinking that if you breed these animals your sure to get a blazin blizzard.

. . . you are using pretty strong negative implications, without showing much proof.

Tell me - what's deceptive? He claims to have produced blazing blizzards. He has stock available - you can produce them too? I don't see the deception.

Mealworms . . . .you can't eat just one

VMS are among the good guys, in my book. They have pictures online, definately their own pictures and not simply reusing the bad prehistoric pets picture.

They know their stuff, they're honest and upfront about their stock. What more do you want?

Maybe I'm biased though, after purchasing some of my absolute favorite animals from them and recieving only top notch service and support.

I didn't wish to sound so harsh. Dang internet - hard to convey feelings/attitude.

Most people looking for BB's would understand that chances of their production. It's a pretty advanced project for leo breeders, at least in my opinion.

Anyway - I just wanted to clarify and not make anybody feel that they wre hosed down by my flames! LOL

I understand your point of view. I am not doubting that VMS is a good breeder as a matter of fact I just place an order with them today. From my point of view I believe that it's a misleading tactic to sell their geckos. I am just pointing out their marketing ploy.

i've bought two jungle albinos from them and they are both very healthy animals

But the geckos he's selling are most likely the siblings to the blazing.
There's perhaps some prine genes hidden away in those leos. Chances of a blazing are VERY slim. I stopped by at Prehistoric Pets today. Jay told me they have about 20 of them now, but they're using the oldest male to breed already. He says that they will most likely have blazings available next year and they'll probably be $1,000.
Perhaps being the sibling there's a better chance of those leos producing a blazing themselves... Just an opinion tho...

I understand your point of posting this picture however. did you get permission to use their photo? they own all rights and usage of their photos and without writen permission it breaks copyright laws. i would suggest you remove the picture(by contacting kingsnake) and also write VMS explaining the situation. maybe he has some info and thoughts and would like to share about his animals he produced-
