Is there any danger in housing different collard species together?

illphacen Dec 17, 2003 05:43 PM

For example, Will a dickersonae and other species co-exist
and more importantly will they breed with each other?

Well, I don't know that I'd use the word DANGER.
But sure they would mate. Like mating a collie with a doberman, WHY would you ever even consider such a thing. Most people, want to keep the breeds pure.

And as far as just co-existing, good example, is the dickersonae. From what I have heard and read, they can be extremely aggressive with their mate during breeding season.
And many breeders keep them in their own enclosure, (only together for brief time during breeding, and monitored to make sure the female stays safe.

I certainly would not put my female C. Vestiguim in with my male aquaflame. Ya know?
