Building new enclosure. HELP!

Hi, I am planning on building a new enclosure for my beardies. I am using an idea from another person who built an enclosure from an old dresser. My question is this: What do I use on the wood so that I don't have to worry about a fire hazard, or the wood drying out from the heat of the lamps? Thanks!

You can use about anything on it as long as it is completely dry and aired out before putting a beardie in it.
