Yes, removing the gravel is good because turtles tend to eat it. Also, please add more water. You could go almost to the top of the tank and this would keep your water cleaner as well. The more water then the less you need to change it. Hope all goes well for you.

Hi. I just thought I'd post because you and I had the same gravel in our tanks, and I thought that was neat. J/K, though we did, and I also got rid of mine as it was really hard to clean. This looks like a nice setup for your baby, though I would agree that more water would be good - I have a baby too and for awhile I thought that if I put too much water in there he'd have trouble swimming, but it's just the opposite. He's become a much stronger swimmer and he loves to dive and play. But your tank looks nice, and Oregano seems healthy.
Peace.

Thank you, I have put more water in the tank and I raised his basking area up. I wasn't sure how close to the screen and light is too close so I have left about 4-5 inches from screen. Thanks for input.

Okay I am not sure but do you have a heat lamp? That looks like a UVB bulb which is good but your turt might like some heat. Turts like air temps 70-80, water 70's, basking 80-90. You could put a thermometer on his basking pad for a couple minutes and check the temps. Okay hope this helps.

What kind of plants do you have in there with Oregano? I'm looking to buy some plants for my turtle's tank but I don't know what kind to purchase, as he she eats everything in site!!

I give him Anacharis, he really likes those. Others say to use water Hyacinths, because they are safe and help control Algae some, but I have not been able to find any of them where I live in New Mexico.
