Well I keep gaboons rhinos and puff adders....... One of my puffs I got from serpents den and it is a great looking snake in great health...... It ate for me the first day I got it home...... Now they are ALOT more aggressive and more willing to try to sink its fangs into you than a gaboon....... They are not the same in any way...... Capive requirments are different...... I would not suggest a puff adder to someone unless they are very experianced in working with other bitis...... They can get large (i have a 4.5 foot female)and most do not take kindly to being handled and some may strike as you pass the cage....... I like to work with them even though they can be a bit unruley at times..... One of mine is like a wet noodle on a hook....... They are fast as hell when they want to be......... Gaboons are much easier to work with...... Never underestimate the agility of a puff because they will suprise you..... Oh and the venom is HIGHLY necrotic....... Even if you get AV in time you still run a huge risk of loosing a few fingers....... Also keep in mind that the puff adder is neck and neck with the saw scaled viper for the most human fatalities from snake bite in Africa....... Not a snake to mess with but they do make good captives and are fairly easy to keep...... Good luck and if you are buying them from serpents den you will be getting high quality puffs......
