Ed, Jackie, & Stacey--Thank you (more)

Sohni Dec 17, 2003 10:34 PM

Thank you for all the advice, reassurance, and encouragement on my new little Hermann's. He seems to be coming along well now. I really appreciate the time you take to help out those of us who are new to keeping tortoises.

Stacey, if you don't mind answering one more question, I noticed you live in Mountain View...do you know of good herp vets in the North Bay area? I do have one (in Rohnert Park), but to be honest, I'm not sure how good he is (although he is an ARAV vet). Any names from Marin to Sacramento would be helpful (I've heard there's some good vets in Davis).

Thank you all!

Dr. Chris Sanders at Wildwood Veterinary Clinic in Palo Alto is good. They have another office in San Jose, the vet there is Diana Welsh. They both are very good and look after my 60 herps.
Good Luck

Anyone closer to Sonoma County? I could go that far if the problem warranted, but it would be a long drive for routine care.

You are very welcome!
By the way, how is the new addition doing today?

He seems to be feeling more at home. He still sleeps a lot, but he is also moving around and eating. I'll probably take him into the vet early next week. My son has had the flu all this week, so it's been a little hard getting out of the house.

Sohni,

Sorry, I ahven't replied quicker, my computer has been running so slow I have not been able to post. I have heard really good things about :

Eric Westheimer, DVM

102 So. Fairview

Goleta, CA 93117

(805) 964-7755

Is that close to you? My Northern CA geography is a little off.

Goleta is in So. Cal. near Santa Barbara. But thanks for trying. .

Have you heard anything about Robert Jereb? He is the vet I've been using and is a member of ARAV.

Hi Sohni,

My doctor said if he was in your neck of the words he would go to UCD VMTH exotic service. Fredrick Frye himself used to see patients there, but I think health problems have taken him out of general pratice. I would give them a call and see who's receiving clients there now.

Thank you, Stacey. I'm OK with the local vet for minor things, but if I was dealing with something serious (like pneumonia), I would want to go some place with a lot of experience in treating illness. I'll give them a call.

I believe Santa Barbara is considered to be in central California. It's around 130 miles north of me.

Sohni Dec 21, 2003 05:46 PM

Up here, anything south of SLO is So. Cal., but then when I lived in Santa Barbara, I didn't think of it that way. Now, everything down there is L.A. to me, lol.
