Spike DIED

stjpball Dec 18, 2003 05:24 AM

Recently Spike has been dropping weight stopping eating but staying active, mike also has stopped eating btu ahsnt lost any weight i figured it was brumation but to be cautious i gave them both 5ml of panacur 3 days in a row, figuring it would clar a parasite problem, well anyhow i figured it was brumation he was just lossing soe weight well was i fuc**** wrong, this morning i wake up to see him dead, he was a part of the family, there weere many struggles with him, a skin infection 2 bouts with it , his parasites and the rehab form both treatments. I loved him so much and so did my family along with m girlfriend he will be greatly missed.

I have one question since my vet is away on vacation for the last month and the other vet i honsetly know more then with reptiles atleast. anyhow i contracted salmonella about 2 months ago i saw the affects of it about a month ago, is there anyway for either him to give it to me or i give ti to him and also could it be fatal to him or would it not even show any signs?

Thank You
Sean

Spike i love you pal

I am so sorry to hear that Spike passed away. It is always hard to lose a much loved pet. I could not begin to tell you why he died, but I would always be very cautious giving a debilitated animal medication for parasites. Panacur is one of the safer parasite treatments, but all of these medications are quite strong. Years ago I worked with a vet (not with reptiles) and the usual procedure was a fecal, medication, another fecal and then determine if medication was needed again. Again, my condolences.

It's always tough to lose a beloved pet, keep your chin up though you did what you could.
