My Four Yellow Ackies

pgross8245 Dec 18, 2003 07:26 AM

Just a quick photo to share of my four ackies. My boy is named Dorado and my girls are Pudge, Daisy and Dora. A question for all of you more qualified camera buffs...how do I get better color on my photos as the basking and cage lights seem to wash it out. My pictures are also so small, but when I change the image size in Photoshop what you see is the largest I can get the photo gallery to upload. I have a Kodak DC3400 which is only 2.0 Megapixel, perhaps a better camera? Just thought I would ask as so many photos on here are really incredible.

this is a photo that i took with a little known camera called a umax astrapix

its acctually only 1.3 megapixels and i can get good pics at 1200x800 pixels so i think maybe you just have to figure out how to resize!

Hey Pam,

looks like you've become quite the ackie afficianado. Three girls, Dorado's one lucky bloke... Any more eggs from pudge? Take care,

bob

Hi Bob,

Yes, Dorado is one lucky dude, a whole harem to himself. LOL No more eggs from Pudge, maybe next year. How are your blues doing?

Take care,

Pam

Hey pamela,

My blues are doing excellent. My 1.1 were copulating just the other day, however, I would prefer that they wait, to make sure that they are both well off before I have to worry about anyone producing eggs. I also have them in a "dry season" right now, so I don't see why they started breeding. Anyways, I'm crossing my fingers, even though they were hooked up just once, we'll see what transpires. take care,

bob

1. (size) I always take my photos at the maximum size the digital camera can produce, then size them down. You can always make a picture smaller without losing much, but when you try to make a photo larger you lose quality.

2. (colour) Flash tends to bleach out a lot of the colour. In Photoshop, go to Image on the menu, choose Adjustments then Hue/Saturation (Ctrl U if you use keyboard shortcuts). Keep the Edit on Master and use the central slider to increase colour saturation. Don't overdo it! It usually doesn't take much to get realistic colours back into a photo.

Thanks for the help with my pictures. I will try out some of the suggestions and see what happens, hopefully I will get some better photos like the rest of you guys. Thanks again

I've got the same camera. It takes fine pictures...

You just need to play with the camera for a while, and figure out it's little quirks.

Sorry about the Crested pic... I was looking for something that showed decent picture quality.

Must be operator error LOL The pictures are not bad until I have to load them in to the photo gallery. That's where I think my problem is coming from. When I just send the pictures in e-mails they are fine. I tried to make them bigger, but the picture gallery gave me an error and would not upload. I'll just have to keep trying...your crestie is cute anyways!
