Question about Chomps belly.....

spooked Dec 18, 2003 09:49 AM

Chomp is about 10 weeks old. Her belly is all white with 'zebra stripes'. I have never seen the bellies of any babies so I was wondering if this is normal. Also, the stripes change color. When I first pick her up, they get really black, but after sitting with her and hand feeding her crickets, the stripes change to almost the color of her belly or a very pale orange color. Is this because she is still just a baby and doesn't have a 'beard' to show emotion? I am so sorry if this is a stupid question.....lol.

It's not a stupid question. Dragons show , I guess you would say "emotion" through color changing, including belly stripes. The stripes can also account for temperature change. Dark stripes usually mean they are cool, afraid, stress, etc. It's the same as when they turn their bodies dark. Unfortunately, we have to guess as to why, there's no one reason.
