HELP on BLACKTAIL problem.

ive had my blacktail for about 2 1/2 months now, im wondering, ive been feeding him thawed mice and one time hell eat two and one time its like hes almost scared of them and he will barly take one down but when he takes two thats all he will take,, he is a strong and healthy feeling snake hes about 38 inches in length...has anyone here had problems like this....ive kept reptiles over 20 years but ive never kept cribos or indigos...

Sounds about right for these Tan Racers! Your little racer will have is own personality and eating habits. At 38 inches I would ponder this advice as it was given to me.

Every time you walk by the cage toss in a fuzzy or hopper. Feed it smaller more often. These snakes will not get fat at that age/size and will poop it right out. I have a little female that has just recovered from under feeding. The previous owner tried to feed it like a king or milk or something, once a week. I took the advice of one of these guys here and now she looks great and is catching up to my 5 ˝ foot male. She is lean and fast.

thank you dan i think i will take your advice,let me see if i got it, in stead of giving him mice once a week ,give him smaller prey maby every 3 days...

My female easterns don't seem to want to eat more that once a week. They're putting on weight though...
