BABY VEILED CHAMELEON WON'T EAT...............

cv768 Dec 18, 2003 11:57 AM

We picked up a baby female yesterday and we tried giving her pinheads...she didn't eat them...today we also tried pinheads...she hasn't eaten them yet...

We've never had a problem with them accepting food...usually they eat as soon as food is offered...

Any suggestions or techniques for getting this little baby going???

It may be intimidated by the amount of food present at one time. It may want fruitflies instead. Not all start off on pinheads. It may be stressed by something or being disturbed too often. Find out how it was offered food before you got it (cup, free ranging, type of food, etc). Some newly hatched babies still have some yolk sac to absorb internally and don't eat for a few days. It may also be sick due to stress or an infection. Good luck!

I think she'll be fine, she ate 3-4 out of her little shot glass and we couldn't find any dead cricket bodies on the floor of the cage...I think she was just more or less stressed or disturbed by being shipped around and put in a new home...

Thanks, I'll letcha know how she turns out.
