Tomorrow is VACATION

deejay17 Dec 18, 2003 12:39 PM

Ok, so tomorrow I go on vacation to Ohio (live in NM) for 11 days. I have two filters going in Oreganos tank, no gravel, 11 guppies, 4 ghost shrimp, plants to munch and shred, lots of water, and lights on timers. Is there anything else I am missing? If I am not feeding Oregano the hatchling pellets how is he going to get his calcium? And you all are positive that he will eat his feeders while I am gone? I dont want him to starve. YES, I AM FREAKING OUT. I feel like I am leaving my infant home alone. So anyhow, I hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and thank you very much for all your help. Talk to ya on the 30th.

Don't worry he could easily go without food for the entire time you are gone and be fine. He will get calcium from the feeders and even some from the plants.

Hey,

Not to put a damper on things, but there's always a risk you have to take leaving your turtle. I have to leave mine (babies as well) for 14 days but I have someone who can check up on them occasionally to make sure they're ok. Leaving feeders doesn't mean the turtle can necessarily catch them and they might not like the plants. BUT, if your turtle has been healthy for quite some time, 11 days should not be a problem
as a general experience observation. Reptiles usually are known for lower metabolism rates so they'll use what they've stored to compensate for the days without food.
