Calcium Dish???

coffey32 Dec 18, 2003 03:20 PM

Hey all,

I have read a few times about people always leaving their geckos a dish of calcium in their cage. I am a little confused as to what they are leaving in a dish. Is it the calcium that crickets are dusted in or calcium in liquid form? Thank you so much, I just want to ahve my gravid female to have as much calcium possible between clutches. Happy Holidays!!!

usually just the calcium powder you put on the crickets. they should just lick it up if they feel they need it!

Just Calcium dust. Sometimes crickets will end up washing the dust of them in the water bowl and geckos might not get the needed amount. I know when I drop some dust in my gecko eats it. Just a little dish in the corner with some calcium dust will always insure that she is getting enough.

You're talking about an adult which will eat powdered calcium to meet their calcium needs. Babies and juveniles won't always do this, and so must have dusted prey once a week. I learnt this the hard way this year.
