well it depends on how much space you have to give either of the two a nice place to thrive..black throats get double the size of the savannah monitor and much more heavier..for a blackthroats you should have at least have a 8 foot by 4 foot cage to start out withand maby later a hole room to its self, with a savannah 8 foot by 4 foot should house one just fine through its life.. i hope i have helped you out if you have any more questions give me a email
ps ...here is one of my savannahs this one is about 2 1/2 foot very good eaters and much easier to take care of than blackthroat, dont get me wrong i love blackthroats there just to big for me to take care of..well heres one of 4 that i have.

Ive had both and to this day have BT/WT crosses and an ackie. Ackies are awesome, relatively inexpensive, dont have demanding requirements for food housing etc.
A bosc is a medium sized species that needs a rather large cage in one years time (4x4x8ft) with a deep digable substrate such as dirt.
An albig is a large species that has much more demanding requirements in housing and food. They are very strong animals that can eat like no tomorrow.
Consider caging, food, vet bills, etc before chossing and choose a species that catches your attention, initial price invested in the animal is always the very smallest price you pay.
