beardieboyh14 Dec 18, 2003 05:00 PM

how big will a nile get in 2 years?
will it be up to 6' or 8' yet or will it be peaking at 3 or 4' at that point?

Nile monitors are fast growers probably close to what a water monitor might grow in its first year or two. So if they are simialr in growth they can be anywhere from 4 to 6 feet in the first two years give or take it all depends on your husbandry. If your husbandry is good they will grow like weeds if it is bad then there is a potential of actually stunting growth so make sure you research husbandry and try to emilate what good husbandry practices are. some suggestions www.proexotics.com
bloobats homepage he has succesfull bred them. cybersalvator.com those are good sites

hope this helps

A properly cared for monitor can reach adult size in a year or less. Some like ackies can reach adult size in 6 months or so. If you give a nile monitor whart it needs and can use to grow etc they COULD possibly reach or exceed 6 ft at a year old. Most monitors in captivity due to improper husbandry and limited options grow very slow and most inexpensive species such as bosc and nile dont live more than 6 months to a year.
The average size of a nile (common or ornate) is between 4-6 ft total length. Some individuals could reach 6-8 ft if cared for correctly.
